Program
Working in partnership, Alta Care Resources and Catholic Social Services provide in-home support services, including Therapeutic Youth Work, Family Support and Family Aide within Region 6 Child and Family Services Authority.
Therapeutic Youth Worker supports a child/youth through transitional changes and problem solving situations to build skills for their future.
A Family Support Worker works with family members in addressing core protection issues focusing on the preservation of the family.
A Family Aide works directly with the caregivers to facilitate parenting skill development and connections with resources.

Program Objectives
To provide in-home educational and support to families.
To prevent long term out-of-home client placement .
To enhance a stable and nurturing family that fosters an environment in which a client can grow and develop.
To provide the child/youth with a positive role model.
To engage the family from a position of respect and compassion.
To honour the parents expertise about their children.
To provide in-home care and support services that build from the capacities and abilities of the family to provide a safe, caring, and nurturing home for the children.
To prevent, reduce, or eliminate behaviours that may place the child, family, or community at risk.
To nurture and facilitate the development of the parents’ self-esteem.
To encourage caregivers as they effectively utilize parenting strategies and skills.
To assist the family in finding, developing and accessing positive social networks.
The Dragonfly Program is a residential group care program emphasizing; self –awareness, understanding of escalation triggers and coping skills that will provide clients with enhanced anger management and communication abilities. It is a short term, strength based program that supports clients to develop new skills along with greater effectiveness in conflict situations. Through programming such as Resiliency and Optimism Competencies (ROC), Peaceful Practices and life skills groups, clients develop the appropriate skills to successfully succeed in the community as well as, subsequent placements
Program Intake
The Dragonfly Program accepts male and female children and youth between the ages of 8 and 18. They must be eligible for services under the Child Youth and Families Enhancement Act. These services occur in a home-like environment that has additional structure and supports to address the clients needs.
Program Objectives
Develop the capacity to deal effectively with unique challenges and the capability to facilitate change.
Engage in collaborative practices with families, the Authority, schools, communities and other service providers.
Enhance skills/tools for managing anger, resolving conflict and building relationships based on cognitive-behavioral approaches.
Optimize goal plans that draws on the child/youth’s natural resiliencies using solution-focused approaches.
Provide opportunities for child/youth to test new skills in the “real world” application of community.
Build life skills that provide children/youth with practical portable tools.
Services
Relationship engagement with children and youth through positive role-modeling and relational mentoring.
Key Mentoring enabling children and youth to effectively attain mutually determined goals
Reunification with the family when appropriate.
Identification of resiliency assets and capacities to support growth within the children and youth served.
Promotion of healthy life style choices and positive decision making.
Encourage child/youth to discover their own identity.
Liaison between the child/youth, family, professionals, schools and community.
3R’s is a joint effort between Alta Care Resources, Edmonton Public Schools, Eagle Information and Technology, West Edmonton Parent Link and Region 6 Children and Family Services. The main focus in the 3R’s Program is to build resiliency in the students and families, encouraging positive growth, and develop success.
Program Intake
Students can connect with the 3R’s worker during school hours on a drop–in basis or, with guardian, consent on a regular basis.
Parents can access the 3R’s worker during school hours, via email or by leaving a voice mail to discuss any concerns they are having. They can also access the worker through the West Edmonton Parent Link office.

Program Objectives
Determine the resiliency levels of students and families while building and nurturing a culture of resiliency within school, home, and community.
Develop collaborative networks with resources in the west Edmonton area and link families and students.
Prevent crises that may cause a student’s school attendance or performance to decline.
Facilitate information or support groups for students and/or parents.
Ensure clients and families have appropriate support when they access eligible services.
Access Triple P programming, which promotes positive parenting and aides caregivers in dealing with children's behaviors, through the West Edmonton Parent Link Centre.
